St Maarten Restaurants – A Boardwalk Phenomena

st maarten taloula mangosTaloula Mangoes – Shaking Up The St. Maarten Boardwalk

This funky little boardwalk ‘cafe’ got it’s architectural inspiration from a mixture of local elements mixed with Miami design flair.

The prominent design theme is wood and natural stone. The bahamian shutters on the boardwalk side are a Caribbean classic and the variety of local stone and slate lend well to the interior, which add a caracter to one of the most colorful St Maarten St Martin restaurants.

St. Maarten Eating In

Eating In For A Change

Ok – with over 300 restaurants to choose from in the gourmet capital of  the Caribbean, you may still have a few nights in……

St Maarten Eating InWhen it comes to self-provisioning, St Maarten/St Martin stands head and shoulders above neighboring islands, and can even swagger assertively against corresponding continental communities with a similar population – packing at least ten sizeable supermarkets and scores of medium-size stores, not to mention our eclectic roadside provisioning.

For all their old world charm and low-tempo consumerism, stores on the five islands visible from SXM simply can’t conjure up fresh Arugula at the drop of a hat, or yoghurt within a sell-by date, or ten different types of bottled water.. Continue reading

St. Maarten Island Restaurants

Wine & Dine

Restaurants – one of my favorite categories! Having lived here for over 13 years I’ve been fortunate enough to sample most of the eating establishments on the island – large and small. We also, through our work, have been able to enjoy the best on offer – including private preview dinners of the gourmet St Maarten culinary competition which has the best chefs in town showing off their latest creations.

NO LIMITS!

St Martin Dining ExperiencesSt Maarten/ St Martin’s dining landscape is as rich as ever. The old names are still there – L’Escargot, Antoine, Chesterfields, Mario’s – places whose reputation precedes them. Other favorites have enjoyed a shuffle within the past couple of years, you’ll now find another Greenhouse in Simpson Bay, a new Topper’s by the Sea, Bamboo Bernies in Maho, and some little-known favorites like Calmos Café or Sol E luna in French Cul-De Sac (not easy to find unless you’ve been personally taken there – I think there’s a reason they don’t advertise!).
